PR Rolls receives EU funding for coating services in the food industry

PR Rolls has a clear and systematic path into the food industry market, which has facilitated the funding. The project began three years ago with the development of a coating for the food industry in collaboration with the University of Tampere.

“We have been developing coatings for decades, and our new Tecno Diamond FS was authorised as a food-safe coating at the end of 2025,” says Jani Westerlund, CEO of PR Rolls.

Westerlund considers the EU funding granted to PR Rolls to be significant.

“This funding helps us to invest in equipment that will allow us to achieve the tolerances set for coatings in the food industry. In the new premises we are building at the Pyhäjoki engineering workshop, we will coat equipment and components that our customers in the food industry send to us.”

PR Rolls has investigated market potential in the food industry, for example, in Europe and South America where the company already has operations in the pulp and other industries.

“The results of our market surveys are promising. We aim to acquire our first references in Europe, but naturally we will also offer coatings to customers further afield if such orders come in,” says Jani Westerlund.
